Laptop Screen Replacement in Adelaide
A broken laptop screen isn't always a broken panel. A flicker can be a worn display cable, a black screen can be a failed backlight, and coloured lines can point to a graphics fault on the motherboard. Replacing the wrong part wastes money, so we confirm the cause before ordering anything.
Once we know what's needed, we source a panel that matches your model's connector, resolution, refresh rate and touch support, then fit and test it.

How we diagnose & repair
- 1
External monitor test
Plugging into a TV or monitor tells us quickly whether the laptop itself is producing an image. If the external display is also faulty, the problem is likely graphics or motherboard, not the screen.
- 2
Cable and hinge check
If the fault changes as the lid moves, the display cable or hinge area is a suspect. A cable is far cheaper than a panel.
- 3
Exact part match
We read the panel's part number so the replacement matches — the wrong connector or refresh rate can mean no image or a washed-out picture.
Repair options
Panel only
Most common for cracked or lined screens where the casing is fine.
Full lid assembly
Some thin laptops and touch models bond the glass to the lid, so the whole top half is replaced.
Display cable
For intermittent flicker or lines that change with lid movement.
What to expect
- Panels for uncommon models may take several business days to arrive.
- Touchscreen and bonded assemblies cost more than standard panels.
- If the graphics chip is faulty, a new screen won't fix it — we'll tell you before ordering.
- Minor colour differences between panel manufacturers are possible on older models.
Frequently asked questions
Can you replace my laptop screen at my house?
Often yes, once the correct panel has arrived. Bonded or complex assemblies may need workshop time.
Is it worth replacing a laptop screen?
For most laptops under five years old, a standard screen replacement is usually far cheaper than a new laptop. We'll compare the options with you.
My screen is black but the laptop is on — is it the screen?
Not always. It could be the backlight, the display cable, the graphics or even a sleep setting. An external monitor test usually tells us which.
